Pension and Life Certificates

Life certificates are notarized free of charge for pensioners who are receiving their National Insurance Scheme (NIS) pensions, Government service or Sugar Estate pensions.  Kindly note that pensioner are required to produce their passports or other photo identification for verification.  Forms are available at the High Commission.
Pensions are not remitted overseas directly by NIS or Government but can be paid into a bank account that has the pensioner’s name on it in Guyana or to an authorized person.  The pensioner is responsible for requesting transfer of the funds from Guyana.
Note: Government Old Age pension is not paid to pensioners who do not reside in Guyana.

Guyanese in Distress

Both the Guyana High Commission in Ottawa and the Consulate of Guyana in Toronto are able to provide assistance to Guyanese citizens in distress.  The objective of this function is to give GUIDANCE with the aim of helping you to help yourself.

REQUIREMENTS TO SHIP HUMAN REMAINS TO GUYANA
Please note that this is a parlour to parlour arrangement.  For information purposes only, please note that the following would be required:
1.    4 copies of Death Certificate.
2.    1 copy of Public Health Certificate.
3.    1 copy of Embalming Certificate.
4.    Remains are to be enclosed in a hermetic sealer.
5.    The hermetic sealer must be then enclosed in metal casket.
6.    The wooden casket is to be enclosed in an air-packed shipping shell.

REQUIREMENTS TO TAKE CREMATED REMAINS TO GUYANA
Please note that this is a parlour to parlour arrangement.     For information purposes only, please note that the following would be required:
1.   Urn must be sealed.
2.   Copy of Death Certificate.
3.   Cremation Certificate.
4.   Public Health Certificate.
